Ultimate Pleasure brand Womanizer releases its latest study on male and female masturbation.

Self-love is the best love, yet according to Womanizer‘s study, there’s still a gender-based masturbation gap. In order to highlight the social imbalance “surrounding the taboo of female sexuality and shame,” sexual wellness and pleasure brand Womanizer launches its fourth annual International Equal Masturbation Day.

The brand’s global study, which encompassed 11 countries, found that “Hong Kong women have symbolically not masturbated for the year until May 21, while men have been doing so since the beginning.” In comparison to last year, the masturbation gap has expanded from 36% to 38.57%.

According to Womanizer, the masturbation gap reflects a need for pleasure education as masturbation for men is more normalised while for women, it’s shamed. Without proper sex education, women continue to miss out on self-pleasure. Alongside the masturbation gap, is another gender inequity in moaning and sexual self-expression, as well as the orgasm gap.

Sex education is key

“Sex education can help promote healthy sexual practices and break down taboos surrounding female sexuality. Educating individuals on sexual wellness can help promote gender equality and reduce the masturbation gap.”

Provide access to sexual wellness resources

“Resources such as sex education classes, books and products like vibrators,” are great tools to enhance personal self-esteem and gender equality.

Encourage sex-positive communication

“Encouraging open communication about sexual preferences and desires can foster a better understanding of each other’s needs and promote sexual wellness and gender equality.”

Advocate for policy changes

Policy changes that “promote sexual wellness and education can help break down barriers and promote equality for all genders,” the brand stated. “This can include changes to sex education curriculum or funding for sexual wellness resources.”

Celebrate International Equal Masturbation Day

“Participating in International Equal Masturbation Day can help promote sexual wellness and gender equality by raising awareness about the masturbation gap and the social imbalance surrounding female sexuality,” closed the Womanizer team.
